Predicted Arsenal line-up for FA Cup tie with Sutton United
Arsene Wenger didn’t come out and say it but gave the impression that the likes of Jeff Reine-Adélaïde and Ainsley Maitland-Niles will once again get a chance in this competition.
He said: “I gave them a chance because they deserved to play. They have a good opportunity to show that they can come in for players that normally play. They have played well and one or two might have an opportunity to show they can play in every game.”
I would expect the team to be very similar to that which beat Southampton 5-0 in the previous round. Some may have expected more youngsters to get a chance but the heavy defeat to Bayern leaves the FA Cup as the most likely, and perhaps only hope of silverware this season.
With a long break coming up after this game, there is not too much need to rest players for the next game against Liverpool. It will however be a chance to give players such as Lucas Perez a chance to get some much needed game time.
One exception is likely to be Danny Welbeck who is unlikely to be risked on a surface notorious for causing injuries.
Laurent Koscielny will miss the game with the injury picked up against Bayern but would have been unlikely to start the game anyway.
