Arsenal could be without their two most important defenders for North London Derby
Arsene Wenger has said that Laurent Koscielny is 60/40 to play on Sunday, while Shkodran Mustafi is still two weeks away from a return.
It is a big blow for Arsenal to be without their first choice centre back pairing against a dangerous attack like Spurs.
Speaking at this morning’s press conference he said: “The uncertainty we have is about Koscielny. The news yesterday was positive. Mustafi is two weeks away.”
Arsenal have looked a lot stronger at the back since moving to a three and Koscileny has been a big part of it.
If he can’t play then it will probably be either a move back to a four with Rob Holding and Gabriel looking the most likely to start. Or with a three, those two plus Nacho Monreal slotting in on the left side of the three as he did against Leicester.
This is perhaps Arsenal’s most important game of the season, even ahead of the FA Cup. With the Manchester derby ending in a draw last night, there is a real opportunity for Arsenal to sneak into the top four still. However, a win this Sunday is an absolute must if that is going to happen.
