Santi Cazorla will miss the remainder of the Arsenal season after suffering yet another setback in his return from an ankle injury.
The Spaniard recently signed a new deal but this has to put his Arsenal career in danger. At 32-years-old, this sort of injury is not easy to come back from. Cazorla had the same surgery that Thomas Vermaelen had. He has played just 25 games in the past three seasons and he was a hell of a lot younger.
Arsene Wenger cannot afford to go into next season planing for Cazorla to play a major role and this causes a lot of headaches. With Cazorla, Aaron Ramsey and possibly Jack Wilshere in the squad next year, that is three major injury risks in one position.
It is time to move on from Cazorla. The replacement may already be in the squad or we may need to go out an buy one. Either way, moving forward with Santi as first choice is an option that Arsenal and Wenger just cannot afford to take.
