Wojciech Szczesny and Andrey Arshavin will miss Arsenals trip to Montpellier. Szczesny is set to miss out due to an ankle injury picked up in Arsenals 6-1 home victory to Southampton.

Szczesnys inclusion in the Arsenal first team at the weekend had some feeling sorry for Italian shot stopper Vito Mannone who performed admirably in the tough trips to the Britannia and Anfield, keeping 2 clean sheets. It’s clear that Mannone will get another chance to impress Wenger who has been encouraging by the young Italians form, and welcomes the competition for the number 1 spot.

To the surprise of some Andrey Arshavin has failed to make the travelling squad, with no apparent injury to the player the cause. Arshavin spent last year on loan to Zenit and has not managed to fight for his place back in the side. Struggling to make the bench on match days, this will surely be another nail in the coffin for the Russian playmaker, who will surely push for a move away from the club in January.

Arsenal squad to face Montpellier:

Vito Mannone
James Shea
Carl Jenkinson
Kieran Gibbs
Thomas Vermaelen
Per Mertesacker
Laurent Koscielny
Abou Diaby
Mikel Arteta
Santi Cazorla
Francis Coquelin
Aaron Ramsey
Theo Walcott
Andre Santos
Olivier Giroud
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Lukas Podolski
