Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain left devastated by Arsene Wenger’s decision
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has revealed that he was devastated to have been left out of Arsenal’s squad FA Cup final with Hull.
Arsene Wenger made the decision not to risk him with Chamberlain just coming back from injury.
Chamberlain told Dugout: “I played pretty much all the games. Then I got a little injury before the end of the season which kept me out for three weeks.
“I came back with a week to go, I trained that week but then the boss put the squad up for the final and I wasn’t in it.
“To say I was devastated was an understatement. I remember going to him and saying ‘I need to be in this squad’. I just kept saying it.”
However, on the day, it was all about the team for Chamberlain as Arsenal came from two goals behind to lift the trophy.
He said: “It was just about the team and the club doing well.
“I was just as ecstatic as anyone at the end. I think I actually ran on the pitch at the end and jumped on the boss and gave him a hug which is quite funny looking back.”
