Alex-Oxlade Chamberlian: “All I can say is we’re sorry to the fans”
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain came out and apologised to fans following Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to West Brom.
He said that the players had not been good enough and that it was not good enough for a club of Arsenal’s stature.
“All I can say is we’re sorry to the fans. That’s not acceptable for Arsenal Football Club to lose the way we did today.
“We’ve got to try and get over this now and focus and we’ve got to keep fighting because it’s not been pretty for us recently.
“It’s not going to get an easier any time soon so we’ve got to fight our way out of this.”
It is not often you hear a player speak like this but Chamberlain did so in his post-match interview.
It was a terrible day for Arsenal who are in real danger of missing out on Champions League football for the first time in Arsene Wenger’s reign.
Chamberlain agreed that this was a big blow to Arsenal’s hopes of playing in Europe’s top competition next season.
“It’s not what we needed. We knew we needed three points. We know we needed as many three points as possible and especially in these games. We’re bitterly disappointed.”
