Alexis Sanchez is out of shape according to former coach
Alexis Sanchez is “fatter than normal” according to his former coach Jose Sulantay.
Chile suffered two defeats this week in World Cup qualifying to Paraguay and then Bolivia.
The former Chile under-20 coach Jose Sulantay believes that things are not all ok with Sanchez and that he is missing his spark.
“I saw him gone, I saw him out of physical shape, totally. He’s fatter than normal,” he told newspaper La Cuarta. ‘Without his spark, he never left that Paraguayan defence behind. He never made a diagonal run, it was something else. It was not Alexis.”
Arsenal’s top goalscorer from last season almost joined Man City on deadline day in a move worth £60m.
However, Arsenal’s failure to secure a deal for a replacement – a £92m bid for Monaco’s Thomas Lemar could not be completed – meant that Sanchez was forced to stay with the Gunners.
His contract expires at the end of the season and everything points to him leaving on a free when that deal does run out.
It has been reported that City will be back in for him in January but it seems unlikely a deal would be done then.
That means that Sanchez is most probably going to be an Arsenal player for the next year. Hopefully, for him and the club, he can rediscover that spark that makes him such a wonderful player.
