Arsenal have activated the release clause of their former striker Wellington Silva – but things are not quite that straightforward, according to Football.London.
The Brazilian signed for Arsenal in 2010 and was loaned out for a number of years due to work permit issues.
Then in 2016 Arsenal sold him to Fluminense but agreed a 4m Euro buy back clause – the one they will now be activating.
However, he will not actually become an Arsenal player as the club have agreed to sell him straight to French club Bordeaux.
He never actually made an appearance for Arsenal. His only taste of English football came in a season long loan at Bolton where he scored two goals.
He has been capped at under 21 level for Brazil.
His seven goals this season for Fluminense this season and impressed clubs from around Europe.
He was highly rated when he arrived at Arsenal seven years ago and this is another chance for him to make it in Europe.
