Arsenal: Arsene Wenger refuses to rule out playing three at the back against Manchester City
Arsene Wenger refused to rule out the possibility of playing three at the back in Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final with Manchester City.
Arsenal switched formation for Monday’s clash with Middlesbrough and could line up in the same way for Sunday.
Wenger said: “What will I do? You understand that I don’t tell you now.
“The game will be spectacular. We hope we score the first goal.
“(The system) was testing to give us more defensive stability because lately we concede too many goals.
“The definition of a good football player is that he is adaptable to the situation.
“That’s what makes football rich. If you’re not adaptable, you’re not a top level player.”
The formation certainly needs some work. It was not perfect on Monday, far from it. But it has some promise. It allows most of Arsenal’s best players to play where they are most suited and with some work it could be a good option in the future.
