Arsenal beaten to key goalkeeper target
Arsenal look set to lose the race for Jordan Pickford with Everton having agreed a £30m fee with Sunderland for the young goalkeeper, according to the Sun.
Arsenal look set to sell both Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina and many saw Pickford as the ideal long term replacement for Petr Cech.
He is set to have a medical today before completing the move to Everton.
The Gunners have also been linked with a move for Jack Butland and that may be where they look to now.
The other option is to promote Emiliano Martinez to number two behind the Czech goalkeeper.
Cech struggled throughout much of the season but seemed to have found his best form once again towards the end of the season.
It could have convinced Arsene Wenger that he has more left in the tank.
£30m seems a lot for a young goalkeeper but if the team believe that Pickford is the keeper of the future for them then they could be getting 10-15 years service for that £30m.
