The biggest winners from Arsenal’s new formation
Arsenal once again played with three at the back against Manchester City as they beat them to reach a third FA Cup final in four years.
With the old system not producing results, Wenger changed to three at the back and pulled off the upset win. The first half against City was a little uninspiring but after that it was as good as Arsenal have played in some time.
It looks as though the formation is here to stay and here are the players that will benefit most from the switch.
The young defender has deserved more of a chance this season, but three at the back has given him back-to-back starts and he has slotted in seamlessly.
He is so calm and everything just looks simple. Three at the back will give him more opportunities, but he is also well suited to playing in that formation.
