Arsenal forward: I feel cheated by the club
Lucas Perez has said that Arsenal giving his number to Alexandre Lacazette is the final straw for him at Arsenal and that he wants to leave the club.
He has also said that he feels cheated by the club after a move to China was blocked before promises of more game time were broken.
Lucas signed for Arsenal last summer but never managed to nail down a place in Arsene Wenger’s first team. He was used sparingly in the league and made a handful of appearances in the cup and Champions League.
He is quoted in Spanish paper La Voz de Galicia as saying: “I want to leave to play and be happy.
“Last year I barely had any opportunities and when I had them I took advantage of them and this season is clearly going to be more of the same.
“I want to fight to go to the national team. I want to play football, but for that I have to leave.
“I think that the best place for me is at home, with Depor.
“They [Arsenal] are not behaving well with me.
“The thing of taking the shirt number without telling me to give it to a companion, it seems to me the last straw.
“I can not continue this way. I have given everything, but that has not been reciprocated, so I can’t stand it any longer.
“I feel cheated. In February I was not allowed to leave for China with the promise that I would play more and after that I had even fewer opportunities.”
He has been linked with a return to Deportivo and it seems unlikely he will still be an Arsenal player by the time the season starts in a couple of weeks.
He is one of a number of players that could be heading out the door at the Emirates before the window shuts at the end of next month.
