Arsenal make last ditch effort to hold on to star with huge contract offer
Arsenal have made a last ditch effort to hold on to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain with a huge contract offer.
He is being targeted by Chelsea but Arsene Wenger is determined to hold onto his versatile midfielder.
According to the Daily Star, Arsenal will offer him £125k per week to extend his stay at the Emirates.
Chelsea had reportedly bid £40m for the England international but Arsenal are not interested in selling right now and will risk him running his contract down and leaving on a free in a years time.
Arsenal are reportedly optimistic that he will sign the new improved offer and stay at the club.
Chamberlain has seen his Arsenal career stall somewhat due to a number of injuries during his time with the club.
Last season saw him really breakthrough though and nail down a spot in the team. His versatility is enough to convince Wenger that he is worth the big deal.
