Arsenal looking to bring in Marc Overmars as club looks at big changes
Arsenal are chasing Marc Overmars as they look to restructure.
The Arsenal legend would be brought in as the club’s first director of football, according to the Mail.
Overmars currently works in the same role for Ajax, and Arsenal would look to bring him in to not only handle transfers, but to decide on the direction of the club.
Wenger has never worked with a director of football and may not be too keen on the idea if he stays.
However, this is clearly the club looking at life after Wenger and looking to move on from a very dated structure.
Wenger handles the club from top to bottom. Something that no other manager in football does any more.
If he stays on, it could allow him to work with less pressure and could have a big impact on the pitch.
Overmars spent three years at Arsenal before moving to Barcelona. He played a huge role in the 1998 double win.
