Arsenal star “ashamed” of Liverpool loss
Olivier Giroud has said he is ashamed of Arsenal’s performance in the 4-0 loss to Liverpool.
Giroud was linked with a move away from Arsenal all summer. West Ham, Everton and Marseille were all strongly linked but the Frenchman decided to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal.
Alexandre Lacazette arrived at the club and put Giroud’s place in the squad in doubt. He believes he can still play a big part though and that he can be part of a title winning side.
“I was ashamed when I left the pitch against Liverpool. We have to change something,” he told France-based radio station RMC.
“I have decided to stay. It’s my choice, even if everyone does not understand it.
“I still want to win the Premier League here.”
Arsenal have lost two of their first three games and there have already been big questions asked of Arsene Wenger and his team.
They are now facing the prospect of losing Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Shkodran Mustafi over the last few days of the transfer window.
With not too many players linked with a move in the other direction, Arsenal could be looking a long way short of being capable of making the top four, let alone a title challenge.
