Arsenal star: I’ll have to manage my injury every day for the rest of my career
Laurent Koscielny has revealed that he will have to have treatment in his Achilles every day for the rest of his career.
It has been an issue for a long time for the Frenchman and today he has revealed just how bad it is.
He was diagnosed with chronic tendinitis in 2014.
“I have some problems,” he said to Sky Sports. “Now it is better. I know it is a difficult injury because you need to work every day on this. Every morning I have my treatment for my Achilles and I know I need to do this to the end of my career.”
It is really troubling news for Arsenal who are so reliant on the 31-year-old.
Both legs against Bayern showed just how important he is.
Arsenal were in good shape in both ties before Koscielny went off. Once through injury and once through a sending off.
Arsenal proceeded to collapse on both occasions and eventually losing both legs 5-1.
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal make a move for a centre back in the transfer window.
Koscielny is a superb player but it is hard to see him being able to play a stretch of games going forward.
The links with Ateltico’s Gimenez perhaps make more sense.
