Arsenal star missing from the Gunners first team photo

Santi Cazorla was absent from the Arsenal first team photo for the season, throwing further doubt over his future.

Cazorla has been sidelined for some time now after he picked up an ankle injury. He went through a number of setbacks including picking up an infection in the area following surgery.

Some even said his career could be over. However, Arsene Wenger said last week he was back running and could feature after Christmas.

In this image posted by Arsenal of the official first team photo for the season, the Spaniard is the obvious absence.

Reiss Nelson, Joe Willock, Matt Macey and Eddie Nketiah are all included but there was no place for Cazorla.

He is the only first team player missing from the photograph and it throws into doubt whether he will ever play for Arsenal again.

He was handed a one year extension but he could feasibly never play for the club under that deal. It would be a shock to see his deal extended if he can not come back and play before it expires at the end of the season.

Arsenal have explained the absence saying that Cazorla had a follow-up appointment in Spain.
