Arsenal striker set to stay after a summer of speculation
Olivier Giroud has decided to stay and fight for his place at Arsenal, according to French outlet Le 10 Sport.
Giroud had been linked with a move away from the club after the arrival of Alexandre Lacazette but now looks set to extend his spell at the Gunners.
He had been linked with a move to Everton and West Ham as well as a possible move back to France.
Giroud has been so reliable for Arsenal. Despite a lot of criticism his goal record is hard to argue against.
He is just two short of 100 goals for the club after scoring 98 times in his five seasons in England – a fantastic return for a player that cost just £12m.
While he may not be an ideal plan A, he is a very good plan B and it seems unlikely that Arsenal would have been able to replace him for anything like the fee they would have received for the Frenchman.
