Arsenal to offer FIVE players new contracts ahead of the January transfer window
Arsenal will offer new contracts to five players in order to avoid a similar situation to what they faced this summer.
According to Jeremy Wilson of the Telegraph, Arsenal will offer deals to Aaron Ramsey, Danny Welbeck, Petr Cech, Nacho Monreal and Theo Walcott – all of whom are under contract until 2019.
The Gunners spent the summer fending off interest in Alexis Sanchez and eventually sold Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Both whose contracts expired at the end of the current season. This is also the same as star man Mesut Ozil.
It left Arsenal scratching around to find a replacement for Sanchez on deadline day after finally deciding to cash in. However, the failure to secure a deal for Thomas Lemar of Monaco meant that the Chilean stayed at the Emirates.
The club will also attempt to strike new deals with Ozil and Sanchez but it looks unlikely that either will agree to new contracts.
