Arsenal open negotiations for midfield star but face competition from Spurs, Barcelona and PSG
Arsenal have opened negotiations for Nice’s Jean Michaël Seri, according to the Guardian.
The Ivorian midfielder could move for around £20m this summer, but Arsenal face competition from neighbours Tottenham, as well as PSG and Barcelona.
Seri has impressed for Nice in Ligue 1 this season as they have emerged as surprise title contenders and he is attracting interest from Europe’s biggest clubs.
The Guardian claim that both North London clubs have scouted the midfielder since 2015 and recently met with his representatives for informal discussions.
He has a release fee of £33m but the Guardian say that Nice are not asking for that much.
“There are a lot of clubs that follow me. But there is nothing done,” Seri said last week.
“If I leave, it will be to join a club where there is a real desire to play football as in Nice. And I’m not going to be on the bench, I’m leaving only if I know I’m going to play.”
