Another Arsenal target set to turn the Gunners down
Arsenal target Jordan Pickford will turn down Arsenal in favour of a move to Everton, according to the Northern Echo.
The goalkeeper has been linked with Arsenal for some time, with many seeing him as the long term successor to the ageing Petr Cech.
According to the Northern Echo, Everton are confident of tying up a £17m deal fort the 23-year-old who will leave Sunderland following their relegation.
Pickford has a very good chance of making the England squad for next summer’s World Cup and continuing to play Premier League football will only help his chances.
It has to make you wonder if this means that Wojciech Szczesny will now be brought back to the club after a couple of years on loan. He has performed very well at Roma and may have convinced Arsene Wenger to give him another chance.
David Ospina is set to leave the club this summer after failing to nail down a place in Wenger’s first-choice 11 and Petr Cech’s performances have left a lot to be desired. If Szczesny is not part of the plans, then Arsenal will either bring in a new goalkeeper or move Emiliano Martinez up the pecking order.
