Arsenal transfer news: French target set to snub them to move to Chelsea
Arsene Wenger reportedly met with Tiemoue Bakayoko late last year but the Monaco star looks set to sign for Chelsea, according to l’Equipe.
The midfielder has been part of the Monaco team that has taken the Champions League by storm, but will join the likely Premier League champions this summer over a move to Arsenal.
Both Manchester clubs as well as Bayern Munich are reportedly interested in signing the £35m man, but Chelsea look to have won the race.
Arsene Wenger is still seemingly unhappy with his options in midfield. Granit Xhaka has shown glimpses of what was expected from him but not enough. Aaron Ramsey has struggled to stay fit and Santi Cazorla’s future looks in doubt following a major injury.
Then you have the likes of Jack Wilshere who as well as fitness issues, has struggled to nail down a place in the Bournemouth team and Francis Coquelin who just is not good enough.
It wouldn’t be a shock the see Arsenal add to the midfield this summer, but Bakayoko seemingly will not be that player.
