Arsenal V Sunderland: Preview

Barclays Premier League

Venue: Emirates Stadium
Date: Saturday, 18 August
Kick off: 3pm

Arsenal begin their campaign with a few injury doubts, Theo Walcott’s thigh injury will be assessed but is expected to start. Meanwhile  Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will miss out due to an ankle injury, and Per Mertesacker is expected to step in for Laurent Koscielny who has a calf injury.

Bacary Sagna is still suffering from the broken leg which he sustained last season so Carl Jenkinson will start at right back

It is better and very much better to play Song and not Diaby. I cannot understand what is wrong with wenger trying to feature his useless brother Diaby while Song is there.
Gobs and Jerkinson are not good defenders and now Diaby.
There is no how Arsenal can win sunderland with this squad..
    Be warned wenger

if song is not committed to the cause of Arsenal he must not play at all. He should be shipped to Barca where his heart is now. we want dedicate cadre who are willing to takes to the promised land

I‘ve never trusted Diaby one bit,but in the absence of Song,I expect Wenger to quickly sign a defensive midfielder. Wenger is not learning from past mistakes. Atleast,a game at a time and stop playing catch-up due to earlier lapses pls.

@mike do you actually support Arsenal and know anything about a) the club b) its current situation regarding players suh as song and c) the performances of individuals through pre season? If you did then you might realise that diaby had a gd pre season and after such a long lay off, needs that momentum to carry forward to build his confidence. Would u rather see a player achieving that in this game or a player that has his foot in the door with very little commitment left for the club?

Song is gone, ok we have to accept that which will be harder than the Robin VanPurseStrings saga, but we need to start looking at the players who are respond their worth at Arsenal. The likes of Diaby, Arshavin, Gibbs, even Walcott are all good examples as to why the level of commitment should be 100% and combined with the positive signings brought in we could have something we have been missing for the last 4-5 seasons – togetherness

I hope Wenger knows what he’s doing. How can you let go four major players in two seasons. It was obvious our midfield was missing the strongman in Song against Sunderland. Anyway, I can’t do Wenger’s job for him- that’s what he’s paid to do. Keep the faith, Gunners.
