Arsenal v West Brom Possible Starting XI & Preview
Arsenal have won three of their seven home games so far this season. That statistic tells the whole story really, we’re choking at home. The weight of expectation, seems to culminate around our home games, you can feel the atmosphere around the ground. You don’t have to be there to acknowledge this, it transcends through the team and is expressed in the way we play. The poor form combined with a perceived lack of ambition displayed in the contract talks with two key members of the team, only fuel the anger of already disgruntled fans.
Today’s game at West Brom, really feels like a must win. After resting key players during the mid-week champions league game, we expect the team to be fresh.
The defense should pick itself, at right back Carl Jenkinson should start as Bacary Sagna has a foot injury, meanwhile Theo Walcott and Lucas Podolski will also miss out due to calf and hamstring injuries respectfully. I believe that we’ll see Chamberlain and Gervinho start in their places. Largely due to lack of any other quality replacements.
The midfield should be the Wilshere, Arteta and Cazorla, although Rosicky will make a good case for starting after a fantastic 45 minute showing against Olympiakos. On a personal note, I would love to see him start this one, he has energy and the ability to inject pace into our attacks, which has been missed. However I think we’ll see him start on the bench and come on in the second half, if we find ourselves in the familiar situation of not being able to create enough chances.
With West Brom sitting pretty in 5th place, it may seem like a bad time to play them but after losing their last 2 premier league games, their confidence will have taken a slight dent. We need to take advantage of this and get back to playing the brand of football, our brand of football which has made this club so successful.
