Arsenal will have to cope without Alexis Sanchez for the start of the Premier League season
Arsenal will have to start the Premier League season without Alexis Sanchez after it was revealed that the Chilean is injured.
Speaking in his first press conference of the season Arsene Wenger said that he has an abdominal strain and will miss at least the first two weeks.
Wenger said: “He had a little abdominal strain that he caught on Sunday morning in training, before he came to Wembley.
“He had a scan two days ago and he’s out for a while – we don’t know if it is two weeks or one more week, but he will not be available. We think he will not play at Stoke.”
It will come as a blow to Arsenal who were expecting their star man to be ready for the opener against Leicester.
Alexis has been linked with a move away from Arsenal with most recent reports suggesting PSG could pay up to £80m for the forward.
Wenger has stressed time and time again that he will not be sold but there have been reports that the board were willing to sell for the right price. It could cause some big issues at the club if he is sold against the manager’s will before the end of the month.
