Arsenal’s first signing of the summer all but done and it is a key one
Arsenal have all but completed the deal to sign Schalke’s Sead Kolasinac, according to reports in Germany.
Raphael Wiesweg – who covers the German side – took to Twitter to say that the deal was close.
There had been reports recently that Man City had beaten Arsenal to the signature of the left back but it appears as though that is not the case.
Since Arsenal have switched to the 3-4-3 the main area of weakness has been on the left side.
Nacho Monreal has not had the best of seasons and is not getting any younger. He may be more suitable to the left side of the back three in this formation.
Kieran Gibbs has shown that he is not the answer and will likely leave the club in the summer.
Kolasinac is an ideal player for the role and has excelled as a left wing back for Schalke.
It will be a free transfer as the player’s deal expires at the end of the season.
It has been reported that his wages will be over £100k per week.
