Arsenal’s Mesut Ozil admits he was tempted by China move
Mesut Ozil has said that he was tempted by a move to China last summer.
The German star is yet to sign a new contract at Arsenal and has just over a year to run on his current deal.
Ozil reportedly received an offer worth up to £100m.
Speaking to goal.com he said: “Money never played a big role for me in football. I play football because I love it. Sure, you do not earn peanuts and the offer from China was tempting and interesting.
“But as I said: Money is not everything. I want to win titles and I have my goals I want to achieve. That is more important than money. That’s why I said from the beginning, that China is not an option for me.”
This week it has been reported that Ozil is holding out for a £300k per week deal at Arsenal with the club currently offering £250k per week.
