Arsene Wenger promises Arsenal players a trip to Wrestlemania if they beat Manchester City on Sunday
Arsene Wenger has been looking for a way to turn around Arsenal’s fortunes and he may well have done it. If Arsenal beat Manchester City on Sunday then they will get straight on a plane and fly to Orlando for the biggest event in sports entertainment – Wrestlemania.
Alexis Sanchez is known to be a huge wrestling fan, even claiming that Stone Cold Steve Austin has been the biggest influence on his career.
As you can see from the above picture, he even takes it to the pitch sometimes. Here Charlie Adam had him in a sleeper hold.
Wenger could be trying to get back into the good books of his Chilean star with the trip and it could be his final roll of the dice as he tries to convince him to sign a new deal.
Wenger said: “We often have a little wrestle at the end of the training sessions. Steve Bould sometimes gets a bit carried away so I often pair him up with Francis Coquelin. We wouldn’t want anyone important getting injured.
“Alexis is a big fan of the Texas Rattlesnake and so am I. I love his outlook on life and like him, I also enjoy a few cans at the end of a match.”
It has been claimed in the past that Austin based his hair cut on Steve Bould.
The plane is already booked and it is thought that if the game does not go well, Wenger and club owner will fly out alone while the rest of the squad are left to watch at home.
It has been rumoured that Vince McMahon is looking to buy into a Premier League club and there is some speculation that he and Kroenke will discuss a buyout while watching Brock Lesnar take on Universal Champion Goldberg in the main event.
Some fans may see the trip as silly at this stage of the season, but the manager believes it will be a good chance for the squad to bond and repair a lot of damaged relationships.
