Arsene Wenger gives big update on Santi Cazorla
Arsene Wenger has spoken about the fitness of Santi Cazorla and it is mixed news for Arsenal fans.
He has been out for a number of months and some people had suggested the injury could end his career.
It started as an ankle injury that he then suffered an infection in follwoing surgery. It has meant that he has had setback after setback as he looks to come back.
However, Wenger has said that he will take a big step in his recovery as he will run for the first time today. It could be some time before we see the Spaniard in action though.
Wenger said: “Santi is having his first run today. Now he must get back to full fitness. It won’t be before Christmas.”
Cazorla has become an important figure for Arsenal since arriving at the club from Malaga in 2012, and his injury was seen by many as the reason for Arsenal’s downturn in fortunes.
It looks like it will still be some months before we can see him in an Arsenal shirt again, but the fact that it does not look like a career ending injury is positive news compared to what has been reported of late.
