Arsene Wenger has given an update on Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s contract situations
Arsene Wenger has said that there will be no discussions over new deals for Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil until the summer.
Speaking to beIN SPORTS, Wenger gave an update on the contract situation of his biggest stars.
Asked about Alexis’ future he said: “At the moment we have no agreement. We have decided to focus on the end of the season and speak about it during the summer.
“It is the same situation with Ozil. Because once you don’t find an agreement and it lasts it’s not good for the (team).
“So it is better that you sit down and get it out in the summer.”
He also spoke about Alexis going away with Chile despite coming off in the last game with an injury.
“He left for Chile. In South America there is a decisive period now for the qualifiers for the World Cup,” he said.
“They have a very important game. I think they are playing Argentina over the weekend.”
“The last news I have is that it was only the kick. We didn’t know if the ligaments were damaged or not because it was swollen and it was difficult to assess after the game but the last news we have is positive.”
So there is good news on the injury front, but the contract situation looks set to rumble on for some time now.
