Big development as club confirms Arsenal transfer bid
Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas has confirmed that Arsenal have made a “very nice offer” for Alexander Lacazette.
However, the club are determined to hang on to their star striker.
Aulas said when speaking at a transfer unveiling: “Alexandre Lacazette was told he could leave. We had negotiations with Atletico. Things did not work out. We now have a very nice offer from Arsenal. But for us he will not leave.”
Arsenal have been linked with the Frenchman for a long time and Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of him.
It has been suggested that Olivier Giroud could be part of the negotiations.
Aulas says that he is determined to keep Lacazette but he also suggested in the past that he would not stand in his way if he wanted to leave Lyon.
Alexis Sanchez is expected to leave the club and it was reported in the past couple of days that the club were chasing Lacazette as well as Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and Thomas Lemar to replace him and Mesut Ozil if they do leave the club.
Wenger appears to be doing all he can to ensure Arsenal do not miss out on Champions League football again.
