There are lots of reports this evening are suggesting that Arsenal have signed French Internation Oliver Giroud for £12 million.
The reports have originated from an announcement on Al Jazeera TV with Arsene Wenger apparently featuring on one of their panels covering the Euro’s. Giroud is said to be very keen on a move to the Gunners and was quoted saying this:
“It’s an amazing club with a great French coach, and my bro Lolo (Koscielny) is playing there too.”
Laurent Koscielny got himself in a bit of controversy early on in the week claiming that he would love his French team mates M’Villa and Giroud to join him at Arsenal.
The signing has not been officially announced but it has certainly created a hive of activity online. Giroud has got 33 goals in 71 appearances for Montpellier, he has performed well on the international stage, in 6 appearances he has 1 goal and 3 assists.
The question on many fans lips will be, is this a replacement for Robin Van Persie or a much needed strengthening to a weak front-line.
