Chelsea edging towards a deal for Arsenal star
Chelsea are closing in on a deal to bring Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Stamford Bridge.
Accroding to James Olley in the Evening Standard, the Blues are getting close to agreeing a deal worth around £35m.
Chamberlain has just a year to run on his current deal and looks no closer to signing a new contract despite ongoing negotiations.
This would mean that Arsenal could lose him for free at the end of the season.
Antonio Conte has looked to test Arsenal’s resolve and Arsene Wenger seems increasingly likely to let the England international leave the Gunners.
He proved himself to be such an important player for Arsenal, if for nothing else but his versatility.
Over the past 20 or so games he has played at right back, right and left wing back, through the middle of midfield and in more advanced roles.
His Arsenal career has been held back through a number of injuries but last season appeared to be his breakthrough.
Arsenal fans would hate to lose him now that he seems to finally be piecing it together.
