Confirmed: Laurent Koscielny will miss FA Cup final with Chelsea
Laurent Koscielny will miss the FA Cup final after his appeal against his red card was dismissed by the FA.
It was always going to be a long shot with the red card looking more than fair after a reckless and quite frankly stupid tackle.
The FA statement read: “Laurent Koscielny will serve a three-match suspension with immediate effect after a claim of wrongful dismissal was unsuccessful.
The Arsenal defender was sent off for serious foul play during the game against Everton on Sunday [21 May 2017].
An Independent Regulatory Commission heard the case today [Tuesday 23 May 2017].”
Shkodran Mustafi is questionable for the game with Chelsea and Gabriel went off with what appeared to be a serious injury in the match with Everton.
Mustafi is still looking likely to play now but Arsenal are getting very close to the bare bones. Per Mertesacker played his first game of the season when he replaced Gabriel in that match and would likely start if his compatriot can not.
It will be a big game for Rob Holding who has looked every bit the top level player since coming in as part of the switch to three at the back. Nacho Monreal is likely to be the third centre back on Saturday.
