Could Arsenal Pick Up Maximum Points Against Crystal Palace, Middlesbrough, Tottenham Hotspur And Stoke City?
Just like in previous seasons, Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League title this campaign are gone. London rivals Chelsea are too far away for the Gunners to catch them; once again, Arsene Wenger’s side will have to settle for a place in the top four.
Arsenal always tend to finish in the top four of the Premier League, but there is a strong possibility that they could miss out this season. Competition from Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Liverpool and Manchester United is growing stronger with each and every round of the league campaign, and there is no guarantee that Wenger’s proud record will not be broken.
The North London outfit will face Manchester City, Manchester United and Everton among other teams at home, but their away games are going to prove very important in their quest to clinch a Champions League place. With that in mind, we look at the remaining away matches for Arsenal this season and predict how they will fare.
Crystal Palace v Arsenal (April 10, 2017)
With tickets for away games for Arsenal actually cheaper than their matches at the Emirates Stadium according to research conducted by Voucherbox, one suspects that there will be a strong following for Wenger’s side at Selhurst Park. This London derby promises to be fierce and entertaining, and Arsenal should be able to pick up all three points, especially as Palace are struggling for survival in the Premier League.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-3 Arsenal
Middlesbrough v Arsenal (April 17, 2017)
Just like Palace, Middlesbrough are also fighting to retain their Premier League status for the 2017-18 campaign. With Boro’s home record reading just three wins from 13 matches, Arsenal should be confident of bagging maximum points at the Riverside Stadium. If Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are at the top of their game, then the North London outfit could win the game handsomely. Arsenal, though, need to be careful of Boro striker Alvaro Negredo, who could punish their vulnerable defence.
Prediction: Middlesbrough 0-3 Arsenal
Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal (April 30, 2017)
The North London derby at White Hart Lane could be decisive in terms of Arsenal clinching a top-four spot. Tottenham held the Gunners to a 1-1 draw at the Emirates Stadium back in November, and home advantage is only going to make them feel confident of a win.
However, if star striker Harry Kane fails to recover in time for the match, then it could sway in Arsenal’s favour. While winning against Spurs would be massive for Arsenal, Wenger’s side simply cannot afford to lose this game as it would affect them psychologically and make things worse for the remainder of the season.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Arsenal
Stoke City v Arsenal (May 13, 2017)
Stoke City have a strong record at the bet365 Stadium. Mark Hughes’s side have won 42.8% of their Premier League games at home so far this season and will not be pushovers, even against Arsenal. Centre-back pairing Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi have to be especially alert at the back, as the home team have some very good attacking players such as Xherdan Shaqiri and Saido Berahino.
Prediction: Stoke City 1-2 Arsenal
