Huge boost for Arsenal ahead of season opener as star man accepts new deal
Mesut Ozil is prepared to accept Arsenal’s latest contract offer, according to the Sun.
His current deal expires at the end of next season and there has been speculation he could leave the club.
It now looks like he is set to stay and sign on to extend his time at the club.
The new deal is reportedly worth £225k per week – a deal that would make him the club’s highest earner.
Ozil and Alexis Sanchez are both in the same situation. While the German looks set to stay, there is a lot more uncertainty surrounding Sanchez.
He has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, PSG and Man City this summer and that move could still happen before the window shuts in around three weeks time.
It will be a big relief to Arsene Wenger to have got one of the two big question marks over his squad sorted before the season starts.
