There have been multiple reports this morning suggesting that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is starting for England in their Euro 2012 opener against France.
Both the Telegraph and Daily Mail have run the story and the feeling around twitter is that these reports are true. The reports are that Alex will feature on the left in place of out of form Stuart Downing.
It will be a surprising decision to start the youngster in his first major tournament appearance, Alex is still working hard to secure a regular spot in the Arsenal line-up but looks set to start ahead of Theo Walcott who may be slightly disappointed at being overlooked.
This is what the mail had to say:
“Arsenal teenager Oxlade-Chamberlain, just 18, starts ahead of Stewart Downing on the left wing in their first Group D match.”
Many will see this as a huge gamble but the 18 year old has consistently impressed Hodgson in training and earned his place in the starting XI.
