It may be time for Arsene Wenger, but he has the club’s interests at heart
Yesterday there were reports that Arsene Wenger would wait until the summer to decide on his future.
There are a number of issues I have with this but none more so than the suggestion by many that he would leave the club in the lurch.
I’m not trying to argue that he should stay, but it is crazy to think that he would do anything that he believed would be detrimental to the club. Wenger’s decisions are all based on what he thinks is best for the club. Whether he is always correct is another debate but he always has the club’s best interests in mind.
If, and it is still a big if, he decides to call it a day I would be stunned if he hasn’t informed the board long before the end of the season. It may not necessarily be announced until the season is over, but he will give the club the best chance to get in the person they deem the best option to take over.
One thing that nobody can doubt is that Wenger loves the club and would want Arsenal to be successful long after he is gone.
When the time does come, I will be disappointed. Almost all of my time as an Arsenal fan has been under Wenger. He has given me some of the best moments of my life.
One thing is for sure though, when he does step down, it will be because he thinks it is what is best for Arsenal Football Club.
