Key Arsenal man set for long spell on the sidelines
Danny Welbeck is set for a long spell on the sidelines after limping off against Chelsea.
Arsene Wenger confirmed after the game that the Englishman – who has started all of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this season – had suffered a groin injury.
It is just the latest in a long line of injuries for Welbeck who spent eight months of last season in the physio room.
The England international played a key role as Arsenal stifled Chelsea and secured a creditable draw and were perhaps unlucky not to win the game.
He went off in the 73rd minute after going down clutching his groin. The Gunners will await the results of a scan but it does not look too promising for the former Man Utd forward.
His workrate, alnogside Alex Iwobi, was a key reason that Arsenal managed to come away with the result and it will disappoint Wenger to be without him.
