Arsenal youngster Oguzhan Ozyakup looks set to be on his way out of the Emirates. We understand official talks between Turkish side Besiktas and Arsenal have began over a possible transfer for the midfielder.
Since joining the Gunners in 2008, Ozyakup has only made 2 first team appearances in the league cup, although he did help the club secure 2 Premier Academy Leagues and the FA Youth Cup. He was part of the Dutch U-17 international side to the final of the 2009 European Championships and also played for the U-19 Dutch side before choosing to move to the Turkish international team.
Ozyakup looked to have a promising future at the Emirates after signing a new contract with the club just over a year ago despite the player being unsure about staying with Arsenal following talks with a number of European clubs. His agent was reported as saying at the time:
“The probability Oğuzhan would stay at Arsenal a few weeks back was very small. We were very disappointed, but a lot happened in the meantime. “
“He wants to seize that opportunity. Oğuzhan still want to succeed at Arsenal.“
However it seems once again that the player feels urged to move on in order to achieve regular first team action.
