Ox wants extension and Jack is back!
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has stated that he would love to sit down with Arsenal and discuss a contract extension with the club.
Chamberlain impressed last season and broke into the first team quicker than many expected. This sparkling form along with excellent displays against Manchester United saw him picked in Roy Hodgson’s England Euro Squad.
Alex is still making a huge impression on Arsene Wenger and he returned that faith by giving him a start over Theo Walcott against Liverpool at the weekend. This may be considered by some as a tactical move by Wenger with Theo failing to come to an agreement on his contract.
“I haven’t given that too much thought at the moment,” he confessed at a press conference, published in Sky Sports.
“I’m here to play for England this week so that’s the only thing I’m really concentrating on.
“Obviously if Arsenal and myself wanted to sit down and talk about anything like that then that’s really good because I’m loving my time at Arsenal.
“I’m really enjoying playing for them so I’m planning on being there for a while so that’s good.
“The only thing I’ll be focusing on when I get back is working hard and getting in the team again,”
Jack Wilshere is on the verge of a return to full Arsenal training. We believe Jack is only 2 weeks away from full training with the first team, with a potential return to action against Coventry in the Capital One Cup.
Jack’s first major set back from injury came in pre-season last year, he has battled for 12 months now to get fit and the light at the end of that long tunnel is in sight. Although official confirmation from the club has yet to be announced, Arsene Wenger’s comments suggest he is improving day by day, quicker than the coaching staff expected. We understand that he will be resuming full training within 2 weeks and could make an appearance for the Gunners in the first round draw of the Capital One Cup against Coventry.
Arsene is definitely right on this one, the return of Jack is like a new signing for us! No really it is!
The work is on for Jack now to force his way back into the first team after a great start to the season for the Arsenal midfield, with Diaby’s MOTM performance against Liverpool there’s no doubt Wilshere has his work cut out for him!
