Sahin loan in doubt, Affelay open to offers, Mancini dismisses RVP
Arsenal transfer news this morning is awash with rumors. Many reports suggest that Arsenal are going to miss out of the potential loan move for Real Madrid’s Nuri Sahin. The central midfielder was widely tipped to join the Gunners alongside Malaga’s Cazorla, but as that transfer looks a done deal the Sahin one has hit a bump in the road.
Ibrahim Affelay is back on Arsenals radar with the players agent reportedly saying that he would be open to a loan move this year.
We reported the Affelay link last month as a potential cherry on the Robin Van Persie contract cake, due to the players publicly very close friendship. We’re not sure if the, ‘if in doubt sign his best mate’ tactic will come to fruition. An already very strong midfield and the signing of Cazorla make it almost impossible to see a spot for the Dutch winger.
Roberto Mancini has fuelled more talk this week that RVP could be about to do a Rooney’esque turnaround and sign a contract extension with Arsenal. When Italian reporters quizzed Mancini on a possible signing of the front man he quashed it immediately stating:
“No, I don’t think he will come here.”
Many believe Manchester United remain favourites for the Dutchman’s signature.
