The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the coming season and would be able to leave on a free.
It was reported this morning that Arsenal were confident they could keep him past this window and believed that they could come to an agreement on a new deal.
However, that does not look like it is the case.
Liverpool are keen on him as well as the likes of Chelsea.
His time at Arsenal has been very mixed. He has not had too many runs where he has not picked up injuries and that has stopped his progress at times.
Last season however was something of a breakthrough. Over the second half of the season he was one of Arsenal’s best performers.
His versatility is something that Arsene Wenger would not want to lose. He can play almost anywhere across the midfield and has shown he is adept at playing wing back on either side.
