Arsenal agree deal for goalkeeper

Wojciech Szczesny is in Italy to complete a move to Juventus, the club’s official Twitter account has confirmed.

The goalkeeper has spent the past two seasons in Italy on loan at Roma and now looks set to complete a move to Juve.

He will be the successor to the legendary Gianluigi Buffon.

It was reported yesterday that the fee would be around ÂŁ12m – a very low figure for such a talented goalkeeper.

It is a shame that things have not worked out for the Pole at Arsenal. He clearly has the talent but off the field issues led Arsene Wenger to want to get rid.

With Petr Cech likely coming towards the end of his career it would have been perfect to have Szczesny there to take straight over but that is no longer going to be possible.

David Ospina is also expected to leave the club so as it stands Emiliano Martinez would be the back up to Cech.

It seems likely that Arsenal will make a move for a goalkeeper after having been linked with Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland.
