Arsenal team news: Three at the back as Arsene Wenger makes a huge call for Manchester City game
Arsenal will once again line up with three at the back against Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final.
The team is unchanged from Monday’s win at Middlesbrough.
It is a huge call from Wenger in what was one of the biggest matches of his career at the club.
There were some promising signs from the game but the team looked disjointed at times. Perhaps another week of preparation will make the system work better.
Many, including myself thought that Arsenal would revert to the more familiar 4-2-3-1 but Wenger has decided to go with three at the back for just the second time in a couple of decades.
This game and next week’s North London Derby are huge for the club with the season looking all but dead. An FA Cup win wouldn’t cover up all the cracks of the season, but it would make it far from a wasted season.
The winner of this match will play Chelsea in the final.
