Arsenal Forward to End Transfer Speculation by Signing New Contract
Olivier Giroud is set to sign a new contract with Arsenal in the next few days. The French international is one of a cluster of players with less than 18 months remaining on their current deals.
While Mesut Özil and Alexis Sanchez struggle to agree terms with the club, Giroud has moved quickly to tie up his contract renewal. It’s thought that the new deal will extend his stay in north London until 2020 by which time he will be 33 years-old.
Before Christmas, Giroud looked out of place in an Arsenal side dominated by mobile and nimble players. Yet, he announced his return to the first-team in stunning fashion with four goals in his last four games.
As we feared the worst after the back-to-back defeats against Everton and Manchester City, Giroud’s form has been a revelation culminating in his astonishing ‘Scorpion Kick’ goal against Crystal Palace. Since then he has struck vital late goals against Bournemouth and Preston to get Arsenal’s season back on course.
