Arsenal tracking French defender as Arsene Wenger looks to shore up defence
Arsenal scouts travelled to France on Sunday to watch Toulouse defender Issa Diop.
The 20-year-old was playing as his team held PSG to a goalless draw.
Spurs scouts were also in attendance and Manchester City have been reported to be interested in the player in the past.
The under 21 international his impressed in Ligue 1 this season but a move to the Premier League could be on the cards sooner rather than later.
Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi are Arsenal’s first choice pairing right now but after that there is some concern about the depth. Gabriel has not been good enough and Per Mertesacker looks as though he is coming to the end of his career. Rob Holding may well be the only centre back left behind the first choice pairing by the start of next season.
Koscielny has had some injury problems and is on the wrong side of 30 so Arsene Wenger may be eyeing up Diop as a long-term replacement for his compatriot.
